South China Morning Post (SCMP) has covered Kusion’s launch of Aeon Capsule at the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show (HKIJS) 2018.
Designer Galleria welcomes collections aiming for a more youthful, trendy but quality-conscious audience. Zone exhibitor Kusion Jewellery has presented its products at the show for nine years.
“We position our brand as unique, personal and high-quality. The requirements for showing in the Design Galleria are high. So being part of it not only means we have a nice location, it is also a recognition from the industry,” says Kate Po, Kusion Jewellery’s chief designer.
“We want to make products that amaze people, that people can interact with and build meanings around. We believe the one thing that makes a jewellery piece precious is the meanings inherent to the person wearing it. The new expectation of people in jewellery is something that they can wear every day.”
Kusion is showcasing many special-edition collections at its booth, and a new design that is ready for crowdfunding. Called Aeon Capsule, the piece consists of a “chamber” made with a special alloy of high silver content, and at the last stage of production, a pearl or semi-precious stone is implanted with the arms hammered to hold the jewel into place. The method avoids the need for drilling and gluing, ensuring that the pearl remains in perfect condition. A video explaining the concept will be shown outside the company’s booth, and those ordering this piece at the show will be offered a special price.
